1. Through Phone Settings
You’d be using your phone’s settings here. After this setting is completed, the Messenger app will automatically use the language of your setting.

3. Click on ‘Language’.
4. Select the language of your choice and press ‘Done’.
5. Press ‘Change to Spanish’.
That is why the dialog box asked you to change the language to Spanish. Whichever language you’d like, you will see a dialogue box to change the language in your desired language. Note: According to the device you might have to go into another sub-heading ‘Language and region’. The settings will be different according to your device, but the main setting is to find the list of languages and choose as per your desire. Facebook reloads automatically after this, so your setting will take action by itself. If you have allowed Facebook to read your location, then you will be shown common languages in your geographical region.
2. Through Messenger App on Desktop
You can download the Messenger app on your desktop or PC as well. Those who are engaged in business conversations through Messenger, or just anyone can get to the app more easily this way.
1. Open the Messenger app and click your profile icon.
2. Tap on ‘Preferences’.
3. Click ’Language’.
4. Select the language of your choice.
5. Click the ’Restart’ button.
Note: It changes the language of the application, but doesn’t make any changes in your chats and texts. Since the name of your friends and the language you have talked in is something else, this setting doesn’t alter what has already happened in the chat.
3. Through a web browser
Before downloading Messenger as an app was introduced, everyone used a web browser to chat with people. It still works just fine if you do not want the hassle of downloading an app. Just follow these steps and change the language as you’d like.
1. Open Facebook and click on the dropdown arrow.
2. Click on ‘Settings & Privacy’.
3. Tap ‘Language’.
4. Find ‘Facebook language’ and click on ‘Edit’.
5. Click the dropdown arrow and select the language of your choice.
6. Press ‘Save changes’.

Unfortunately, Android or iOS users do not get this feature. Messenger app doesn’t have a feature to change its language through the app. So you’d have to change the language through phone settings for that. That seems to do the trick.
